As a runner and general outdoor enthusiast living in Florida, sun exposure is a part of life. Therefore, proper skin protection is also a way of life. You may assume this is a simple decision of applying sun screen, and you would be wrong. There is a lot more that goes into choosing the right products for your skin.
Growing up proper skin care was not something that was taught. Therefore, my skin endured decades of weather damage from school sports to my time in the military. I am not sure when the light went off. I do remember I decided I did not want to risk premature aging, leathery skin, wrinkles, or the big Skin C word. I don’t know about you, but I like not looking my age. Skin care, drinking lots of water, proper vitamin regiment and a healthy diet are key factors to staying young forever. So I became fanatical about it in my mid-thirties. I did not make the same mistake as my parents either, I talk about proper skin care with my kids regularly.
Choosing the right products for your skin is just as important as having a daily routine. Let’s talk routine first. I use a daily moisturizer with SPF for my face, ears and neck before leaving the house every morning. I apply lotion to my entire body after showering to ensure skin elasticity. At night, I use a foot cream because feet need loving too. If I spend any time in the sun, I use an after sun lotion to repair any skin damage.
Now let’s talk about choosing the right products. This is an area of my life where two priorities align to guide my decision making process. I am vegan and an environmentalist which guides my choices. On a personal level, I strive to reduce my footprint on this planet through personal choices. I have been using these products everyday for over a month and I cannot be happier with the results. Aside from all of the scientific and corporate culture based reasons above, there are other personal factors to consider when choosing a skin care product. The line of products I reviewed were non-greasy and contained no add in fragrance. This is important for me because I have sensitive skin. The products have a slight coconut odor (at least to me) which is very pleasing. After application, the skin feels tight and firm. This is an attribute of the mineral base. If I were to sum it up in plain language, it just FEELS like it is working. Choose all natural for your skin, choose Tanri. Tanri will be my go to for sun care products!
